Ruto Challenges Google To Localise YouTube Monetisation – GhettoRadio 89.5 FM

President William Ruto has challenged Google to make YouTube monetization locally available for content creators.

According to Ruto, bringing monetization of YouTube Content locally will attract more content creators on the YouTube platform and also enable them professionalise their output.

Currently Kenyan creatives have to operate accounts in other regions in order to access monetisation which is currently available in Ireland.

“We are aware of the immense opportunity for our vast pool of creative talent to gainfully engage with Google platforms,” said Ruto.

“I believe that monetization of content locally would bring more creators and creatives on board while enabling them professionalise their outputs. I therefore suggest that monetization is a true win-win that can take our collaboration to new, exciting frontiers,” he stated.

Ruto who was speaking during the celebration of Google’s 15 year presence in Kenya, further challenged Google to partner with counties and schools and make YouTube literacy skills in schools.

Several content creators gave testimonies of how Google has changed their lives, testimonies the Ruto likened to the Bottom Up economy.
